Every spring, Chicago becomes the center of the culinary world as chefs, restaurateurs, hospitality professionals, and food lovers gather to celebrate the James Beard Awards. While the awards ceremony honors the industry's very best, the excitement begins long before the winners are announced - at the unforgettable welcome events and receptions that bring together some of the most influential names in food and beverage.
For the third consecutive year, I had the incredible opportunity to partner with Live Art International alongside my talented calligrafriend, Caroline at Linalulu Paperie to provide live hot foil personalization for guests attending the Chicago Airports reception during the James Beard Awards festivities. It has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year.

The activation featured custom leather luggage tags and passport covers, personalized on-site with metallic foil using professional hot foil equipment.
Guests selected their item and watched as we personalized it in real time with their initials or names before taking home a travel accessory that was both beautiful and functional. One of the things I love most about hot foiling is how efficient it is without sacrificing quality. During this year's reception, Caroline and I personalized more than 150 luggage tags and passport covers in less than two hours. The line never stopped.
One guest after another watched their leather accessory transformed into a one-of-a-kind keepsake in just seconds. It's honestly one of those events where I have to remind myself that this is actually work.
